Welcome To Day 1

Welcome to the first day of your 5-Day Pronunciation Challenge!

Before you begin, find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed - this is your time to focus fully on your voice and your improvement.

Today, you begin the journey to clearer, smoother, and more confident British English.

This session focuses on the core vowel sounds that shape the Modern RP accent.
These sounds appear in almost every sentence you speak—and when you master them, everything you say instantly becomes easier to understand.

Your new voice begins here.
Let’s get started.

What You’ll Learn Today

In this session, you will:

  • Train three essential vowel pairs that create clarity in British English

  • Learn exactly how to shape your mouth to pronounce each sound accurately

  • Repeat each sound many times to build strong muscle memory

  • Practise minimal pairs so you can hear and feel the difference

  • Use the sounds in short, natural British phrases

  • Shadow Darren to build smooth rhythm and natural fluency

By the end of this session, you’ll already notice your speech feels calmer, clearer, and more controlled.

🎧 Before You Begin: Record Your “Before” Sentence

To measure your progress over the next 5 days, please record yourself saying this sentence:

“The brave cat waited by the tall blue gate while three busy people were drinking water before the meeting.”

Say it:

  • once slowly

  • once at your natural speed

  • once a little faster

You’ll record this again on Day 5 and compare the difference — it’s always surprising and deeply motivating.

🎯 How This Session Works

This session is designed to be simple and effective:

  1. Listen — hear Darren model each sound slowly and clearly

  2. Repeat — copy the sound many times to build accuracy

  3. Compare — practise minimal pairs to sharpen your ear

  4. Shadow — speak at the same time as Darren to build fluency

  5. Apply — use the sounds in short British phrases

Every minute you spend today builds the foundation for the rest of the challenge.
